We’re pleased to share the launch of the new website for Gemma Bailey Art, showcasing Gemma’s hand-drawn coloured pencil portraits and giving visitors a clear route to commissioning their own artwork.
The aim was to create a website that reflects the care and character in Gemma’s portraits. The artwork needed to be the main focus, with a design that feels welcoming and makes it easy to browse recent pieces, learn about the artist and understand the commission process.
A design inspired by the artwork
We used a soft, earthy palette of terracotta, sage and neutral tones to complement the portraits. Elegant typography and generous spacing give the pages a calm, balanced feel, allowing each piece of artwork room to stand out.
The homepage introduces Gemma’s work before guiding visitors through recent portraits, information about the artist and the next steps for commissioning a piece. This creates a natural journey from discovering the artwork to making an enquiry.
Making commissions easy to understand
For a bespoke service, visitors need to know what to expect before getting in touch. The commissions page brings together the process, portrait options, sizes and pricing, helping prospective customers explore their choices.
Clear contact links and a prominent “Commission a Portrait” button make the next step easy to find. We also included information about gift vouchers, giving visitors another way to purchase a thoughtful, personal present.
The portrait galleries are a central part of the website, showing examples of Gemma’s lovely work so visitors can get a feel for her style and attention to detail.
Designed for mobile browsing
We adapted the layout for desktop, tablet and mobile, paying attention to image presentation, readable text and navigation. Whether someone arrives through a social media link on their phone or browses on a larger screen, the site gives them a clear way to explore the portraits and contact Gemma.
Built with WordPress and Elementor, the website also gives Gemma a practical foundation for adding new artwork and keeping her content up to date as her business grows.
